An unexpected winter project.

The Greens Committee spends the summer season discussing the many possible projects that will both improve existing infrastructure, or in some cases create addition assets to the property.  The projects are decided upon and announced in the Fall.  It is then up to the Golf Maintenance crew to complete this list.  Sometimes situations can arrive that will alter our plans.

This winter it became apparent that the large underground culvert that runs beneath 10 fairway had deteriorated to the point where it was no longer functioning.  The flow of water had been diverted out of the pipe and had created its own underground tunnel outside of the bounds of the original culvert.  Upon excavation it was found that the entire length of the bottom of the culvert was missing and had rusted away over the decades.  It was time for action to be taken.

The project went very well, and took only a week to complete.  The following pictures illustrate some of the work we did.

The sod is cut and moved away from area.

Nick pulls the drain plug for the pond.

The path is clear to dig up and remove old culvert.

This is the new culvert that will be installed.

This sod was all put back in place.
Large tarps and plywood boards protected the fairway.

Old culvert lifted away.

The remote control ground compactor.

The new pipe rolling towards the trench.

Scrap metal taken back to the shop.

We sold this scrap and had a cookout with some of the proceeds.

Twisted Metal.

The End.

Return of the Blog

I have decided its time to bring the blog back into action.  In the coming weeks I hope to post many pictures of the projects we have completed during the 2014-2015 Winter Project Season.

I look forward at providing you with many posts of pictures and explanations of the work that we do.

So lets get started.
